What does the process look like?

  • Once you decide that you want to work with me then you’d schedule a consultation via email.

  • During the consultation, you are welcomed to ask questions and we’ll determine whether or not I would be the best support for you.

  • If it is decided that we’ll work together, then your contact information will be recorded. You will then receive intake documents to be completed at least 24 hours before you’re scheduled session.

  • The first session will be utilized for intake questions, and identify goals to work on over the course of your sessions.

What can I expect in session?

Therapy for everyone is different. It’s always a collaborative effort. I try to foster a supportive environment, and in doing so will sometimes ask hard questions. The extent to which our sessions are helpful depend upon your openness and willingness to complete the work outside of the therapy room. The pace is always dependent on you, as well as our use of time. I’ll be there as a helpful guide in the place where you feel stuck.

How can I determine if we're a good match for working together?

My primary focus is on disempowered populations. That being said, I am not equipped to help manage acute care or crisis intervention. What does that mean? We may not be able to work together if you are:

  • At risk of harming yourself or others due to suicidal ideation, active psychosis, or unmanaged addiction to alcohol or drugs.

  • Unstable do to an eating disorder, or other condition that may need to be managed in a clinical setting.

  • In urgent need of additional documentation or assessments for legal proceedings or employment documents(this can be revisited once a therapeutic relationship is built).

How long are sessions?

Sessions can run from 45 minutes to 50 minutes depending upon its type and the client’s need. Clients typically meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The first 4 to 6 sessions will be weekly, and the frequency of following sessions will be determined also based on need.

How many therapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people may find relief after just a few sessions, while others might need longer-term therapy for deeper issues. Typically, therapy is a gradual process that unfolds over time, and we assess progress and adjust the approach as necessary.

How do I prepare for therapy?

Preparation involves reflecting on the issues you want to address and being open to the therapeutic process. It may be helpful to write down any thoughts or questions you have for your therapist. Be ready to discuss your feelings, past experiences, and goals for therapy.
